FREE Modeling with the Masters at EJ'08

At Empire Junction 08, we are proud to be able to present to you a “Modeling With The Masters” program with NMRA Master Model Railroaders Bill Brown, MMR #371, and Brian Curry, MMR #350. These award winning modelers will guide you through the construction of a small building, and then turning it into a small highly detailed diorama for you to take home and install on your layout.

The “Modeling With The Masters” program will take place Thursday evening from 6 PM to 10 PM and Friday morning from 7 AM to 11 AM, providing you with a total of eight hours of modeling fun.

The kit we will be using will be the Bar Mills HO scale Twin Utility Sheds, kit #0702. We will be building only one of the sheds during the program so you can, 1) take home a completed diorama and 2) take the remainder of the kit ( the other shed ) home to build on your own using the skills and techniques that you learn during the workshop.

Thursday evening will be used to construct the building and start the diorama. Friday will be used to finish the diorama and blend everything into a small, highly detailed scene that you will be proud to display on your layout.

You will be expected to bring your own tools, a list of needed tools be sent out to those accepted in to the program. We will furnish the Bar Mills kit and most of the scenery materials for the diorama portion.

Now for the hard part, the COST for you to participate in this workshop. Because of the generous donation of the kits by Art Fahie, owner of Bar Mills Models, the cost to you, the modeler, is $0 dollars, Zilch, Nada, Nothing, it's FREE!

The event will be limited to the first 20 people who register and fully pay for the convention. The next 10 people registering will be placed on a waiting list, and should come to the convention on Thursday night ready to fill in on a moment’s notice. There are a few stipulations. All participants MUST be current NMRA members, this offer is not available to members of the Central New York Division, we want to give all Region members a “fair shot” at this workshop. We’ll provide this workshop to the CNY Div. members at another time.

The first 20 NER members to register will receive a letter providing them with the details of the workshop and what tools and supplies to bring with them. The next 10 members on the waiting list will receive a letter letting them know they are “Wait Listed,” and provide them with the same list of tools and supplies so that they can step in to fill an empty slot on Thursday night with as little as five minutes notice.

The skills you learn during this workshop will be useful for any size craftsman kit and for your scratch building projects.
