2007 Convention: October Update

If you ever get the opportunity to organize a Regional (or higher) Convention, don’t hesitate – sanity might prevail.

Convention Headquarters

As of 10/2/07, there are 162 registrants (including 25 first-timers), with 111 opting for the Sat. Eve. Banquet, 51 for the Sat. Morn. Port Tour, 25 for the Sat. Aft. Amtrak Tour, and 3 for the Sat. Aft. Florist/Art&Hist. We suspect more will attend, considering both the 2.5 weeks remaining and the potential for Local Drop-Ins.

To encourage Walk-In attendance, we are offering a special One-Day Rate for Convention–Site activities: $25 for NMRA Members or $35 for others - the $10 differential buys a 6-month introductory NMRA membership, with appropriate privileges and coverage.

Errata Repeat: Contrary to a note on the initial Registration Summary (Confirmation) – a leftover from a previous Convention – there is a complimentary breakfast buffet at the Best Western with every night’s room reservation!

Reminder: at the time of Registration, it is possible to arrange with the Best Western staff for a Saturday Bag Lunch to be provided then, to expedite the Clinic experience. [If only we could offer those NASA undergarments…]

General Clinics

Download as a PDF. A handful of clinics have been shuffled, once again. For example, Dominic Bourgeois’ Clinic has been moved into the noontime slot on Saturday, to fit comfortably between bus tours. (May we recommend the above lunchbag option?) The above numbers suggest over 110 persons roaming the Convention Site, looking for Clinics or Displays to haunt. It would be well to arrive at a Clinic room early, for finest-kind seating!
